Adolescence can put intense pressure on the mother-daughter dyad—and restoring and strengthening that important relationship is one of the most overlooked ways to help teen girls in therapy. Blame, shame, and feeling misunderstood often cause teen girls to lash out against their mothers, who then pull away, sometimes just to keep the peace, leaving daughters even more alone to struggle with growing up.
