The sad reality is that despite extensive suicide awareness campaigns, prevention programs, and increased mental health advocacy, suicide rates continue to climb...

...leaving clinicians everywhere wondering what can I do that's actually going to help my clients?

Our field hasn't been very good at offering effective suicide prevention techniques either, too often teaching models that are narrow in their focus and miss huge opportunities to help.

That's why we're excited to partner with world-renowned suicide treatment experts Craig Bryan and Justin Baker for this comprehensive online program...

...that will fully prepare you with an evidence-based model to assess risk, manage crises, avoid relapse, and go beyond alleviating deathto helping your clients find reasons to live.

These two innovators have spent decades on the front lines with suicide cases and taking part in some of the most in-depth research that's ever been done on this topic. Through that time they've developed and perfected the Brief Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (BCBT) model that has proven to work better than almost any method available to therapists.

Not only is BCBT effective, but it works quickly by incorporating easy-to-implement interventions that both therapists and clients appreciate.

Now through in-depth learning sessions, detailed instruction, real-world demonstrations, and clinical handouts, you'll get the tools and strategies you need to save lives and bring hope to your clients.

Praise for the BCBT Suicide Treatment Method

Effective!

"Craig Bryan outlines the most effective treatment for reducing suicide attempts developed to date."

Patricia A. Resick, PhD, ABPP, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Duke University Medical School
Life-changing!

"Why should you learn BCBT? Because you will become equipped with specific CBT strategies that will make you not only more confident as a clinician, but also more effective in helping your suicidal patients regain their desire to live and thrive."
Marjan G. Holloway, PhD, faculty member, Beck Institute for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

Listening to Suicidal Clients: How to Move Beyond Fear and Defensive Practice

The fear of client suicide can lead to "defensive practice," in which therapists interrogate clients about their suicidal thoughts, pursue emergency care when it's not truly needed, or take other actions to protect themselves legally and emotionally rather than to meet the clients' needs.

In this Networker Symposium workshop recording, you'll learn to work as an ally, not an adversary, when a client is at risk for suicide — so you can feel less afraid and anxious with clients who have suicidal thoughts.

Suicide in Historically Marginalized Communities: Perception Versus Reality

There is a myth in the Black community that Black people don't die by suicide and that acknowledging mental health challenges, like anxiety and depression, are signs of moral weakness.

In this recording, Victor Armstrong will discuss the stigma around mental health and suicide among those in historically marginalized communities. He will discuss and uncover the historical challenges of these communities, emphasizing Black men, in accessing care for mental health.

Embracing Suicidal Parts: Using Internal Family Systems (IFS) to Heal Traumatic Wounds

This recording offers a practical exploration of how to approach suicidal ideation and behaviours from an Internal Family Systems approach. Examining the pieces of the psyche that drive these thoughts, feelings, and actions, IFS encourages therapists to help clients make peace with, embrace and find love for suicidal parts.

Why People Die by Suicide: What the Last 20 Years of Research Shows Us

In his theory of suicidal behaviour, Thomas Joiner proposes three factors that mark those most at risk of death: the feeling of being a burden on loved ones, the sense of isolation, and, perhaps chillingly, the partly genetic and partly learned ability to hurt oneself.

He tests the theory against diverse facts taken from clinical anecdotes, epidemiology, genetics, and neurobiology, with implications for the full spectrum of clinical activities related to suicidality.
