Develop the skills you need to treat complex trauma in even your most difficult cases... in-person with Dr Janina Fisher!

Because trauma lives in the body as well as the mind, traditional talk therapy cannot access the deeply rooted, pervasive wounds that complex trauma leaves behind. In fact, therapeutic approaches that emphasise talking about the events often result in more, not less, activation of somatic trauma responses.

Adding to the challenge is the fact that many traumatised clients present with overlapping symptoms including self-hatred, self-alienation, addiction, internal conflict, numbing or shame.

Because of this, despite your best efforts you can never treat the root of their challenges: the legacy of trauma, which continues to “tell the story” not with words, but with chronic somatic survival responses.

The key to providing effective interventions for your clients is to shift your perspective so you can see your client NOT as a traumatised whole person, but rather as fragmented parts in need of healing.

Learn how to heal these fragmented parts in this exclusive 2-day in-person workshop, where world-renowned trauma and attachment expert Dr Janina Fisher will teach you her transformational approach to complex trauma treatment.

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is intended for all mental health professionals including Psychotherapists, Counsellors, IAPT Practitioners, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Social Workers, Psychiatrists, Nurses and other mental health professionals.

Workshop Content

This trauma treatment workshop will cover the following subjects, providing you with the practical insights, skills and exercises you need to implement them in your own practice.

Trauma and Attachment
You will learn how our clients' early experiences shape their attachment styles and how this relates to their attachment styles with their own internal parts.

Fragmentation as an Adaptation to Trauma
Clients' parts can be in internal conflict, manifesting in self-alienation and conflicting defensive strategies. You’ll discover how to repair internal attachments and help clients overcome the challenge of self-acceptance.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy is a powerful modality. Dr Fisher will show you how it can be used to teach clients to regulate their own arousal, and provides resources they can use to help prevent traumatic reactions.

How the Parts Dominate: Blending
You’ll discover how to help clients ask themselves the questions they need to in order to begin the healing process. You’ll get step-by-step instructions on the process of unblending using the proven Sensorimotor Psychotherapy approach.

Internal Family Systems: Befriending our Parts
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a popular modality for working with parts. Dr Fisher will show you how to use IFS to help clients befriend their parts, achieve distance from their symptoms and encourage self-leadership in their lives.

Connecting to One’s Parts for Inner Healing
Continuing your work with the clients' parts, you’ll recognise the role each part plays in a client’s survival. You’ll teach them how to communicate with their parts to establish relationships and cultivate understanding and empathy for them.

From Alienation to Attachment
You will discover exactly how you can help clients with ruptured internal attachments by providing the experiences they’ve been missing that will lead to repair and integration of their parts. Dr Fisher will show you the role of mentalisation in this process, and how to respond when clients parts highjack their bodies through utilising the Social Engagement system.

Limitations of Research and Potential Risk
Dr Fisher will outline the limitations of the methods provided in this workshop and make you aware of the risks that can arise when working with complex trauma clients.
