Stephan Wolfert, MFA


Stephan Wolfert, MFA, MSW Candidate Simmons University, US Army ’86-’93. Actor/Writer/Director, is the founder of the nonprofit DE-CRUIT, which received the 2020 Aaron Stein award from American Group Psychotherapy Association, given to an organization that utilizes creative applications of group therapy to benefit the community, especially in non-psychiatric settings.

Stephan is honored to be one of Theater Communication Group’s (TCG) 2020 Acting Fellows for Distinguished Achievement. Stephan created and directed military segments for Twyla Tharp and Billy Joel’s Tony-Award winning production Movin’ Out. Stephan has taught and performed his award-winning solo piece, Cry Havoc! , over 500 times throughout North America, Europe, and Australia. Stephan was awarded the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) 2019 Max Gabriel Memorial Award for “outstanding ability to artistically and powerfully share your story in order to broaden the understanding of PTSD and other mental challenges faced by our veterans.”
